A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Great food - I make sure to stop in here whenever I'm over from Gisborne. I'm a big fried chicken fan and I think they have the best fried chicken and fried chicken burgers in the country! Highly recommend!"
"This is the best Korean chicken I've had in Taranaki! The flavor was amazing, and the chicken was perfectly cooked. The location was convenient, and I easily found parking. I highly recommend this place to anyone craving delicious Korean chicken. I will definitely be back!"
"Decent Korean chicken and beer place in New Plymouth. We’d been to the Wellington branch and thought we’d check this place out too. The venue is decent, nothing crazy, but is geared towards takeaways, so there is no table service, you have to get your napkins, cutlery, plates, cups and water yourself. The Wellington branch has table service. There is also a sign detailing the ongoing “pink chicken” drama. The order with the touchscreens works fine, but you have to approach the counter to order alcohol. I was not a big fan of the amount of chicken you could select eg 4, 6, 12, 24. There should be an 8 or 10 option. Wait was about 10 minutes for food. I was not a fan of the order system, as they did not shout out or put on a screen when your food is ready. You had to be right by the counter to know if it was there. They went to put the food away without checking with us if it was ours. Not a lot of attention with the service. Chicken was decent; tender and went well with the sauce. Sooo much sauce! It pooled at the bottom of our containers, which ended up making the experience very sticky. The sauce is a bit too sweet / honey like. The volcano is very hot. The sweet and spicy is very similar to honey soy (not spicy). Burger was excellent value with the chicken, could have benefited from a tomato slice / chilli peppers to balance the sweet. Overall, while not quite as good as the Wellington branch, I would certainly recommend people try (KCB) Korean Chicken & Beer."
"Nice, solid place for Korean fried chicken. The service was reasonably quick, the place was pretty clean and the staff are friendly. I got a rice bowl that had a good layer of coleslaw and kimchi as well as the chicken and rice. The regular crispy chicken comes with mayo and is genuinely pretty good. All of the dishes my group tried were pretty good. At ~20$ at the start of 2026 it's pretty decent value as well. Finding parking on the strip outside wasn't that easy but we found one 100m down the street. Also shout-out to our fellow Christians running the place!! Awesome to see them repping Jesus in New Plymouth"
"Amazing staff. Excellent customer service. The food is exceptional, real chicken and you can taste the freshness. Different options, all excellent. I’d only like the option to choose normal burguer bun other than brioche (personal opinion, brioche is too sweet). Will definitely be back. Pictures show two simple burgers and a kcb meal. Plenty for 2, leftovers taken home."
"Absolutely love KCB in New Plymouth. The chicken is delicious and the service is great. The staff are genuinely lovely, friendly and welcoming every time. It’s one of those places you leave feeling happy and well fed. Highly recommend if you’re after great chicken and great service."
"May 2025 Absolutely delicious chips and burger! 100 would recommend. Sticky sticky chicken burgers and chips with seasoning, hot and crispy! Burger comes with cheese and pickles. Double burger is great value at 18.99 for a combo and has two big chicken pieces. Place needs a clean and the bathroom is not great. Sink clogged and floor wet. They are busy but not too busy to attend to this. Tables not clean either. Also, no beer!"
"I ordered a double creamy onion burger through door dash and it was terrific. Perfectly seasoned patty, sauced to an impeccable standard. The best lunch and dinner spot. Will always recommend. Thank you KCB for satisfying my hunger in a timely manner :)"
